Coffee table and reference book – a winner’ (Amazon customer)’Very impressive. It’s amazing how much territory is covered without overwhelming the reader. The abundant photos and images are absolutely coffee-table-worthy, but this book is so much more. I think it would be enjoyable for an obsessed coffee geek or someone who just enjoys their java.’ (Amazon customer)For everyone who wants to understand more about coffee and its wonderful nuances and possibilities, this is the book to have.Coffee has never been better, or more interesting, than it is today. Coffee producers have access to more varieties and techniques than ever before and we, as consumers, can share in that expertise to make sure the coffee we drink is the best we can find. Where coffee comes from, how it was harvested, the roasting process and the water used to make the brew are just a few of the factors that influence the taste of what we drink. Champion barista and coffee expert James Hoffmann examines these key factors, looking at varieties of coffee, the influence of terroir, how it is harvested and processed, the roasting methods used, through to the way in which the beans are brewed.Country by country – from Bolivia to Zambia – he then identifies key characteristics and the methods that determine the quality of that country’s output. Along the way we learn about everything from the development of the espresso machine, to why strength guides on supermarket coffee are really not good news. This is the first book to chart the coffee production of over 35 countries, encompassing knowledge never previously published outside the coffee industry.

The book is very well written and beautifully presented, it touches on a lot of subjects and gives a holistic overview without dwelling too much on the details. You get enough information to actually ‘understand’ the nuances of the coffee world and further investigate on your own, and everything in there feels well thought out.

The book covers vast information on coffee, its varieties, production, brewing and different regions around the world where its grown. James Hoffman also carries the reputation and he lives upto it in this informative book. Must read for coffee lovers.

I would recommend this book if you are interested in how coffee is different in terms of its terroir and growth across the globe. It covers very well how the politics of the sovereigns and coffee farming have both influenced each other, for those sovereigns to where this might be applicable.
Siddharth Chhajer –
Must have book for coffee lovers.

TLDR: Great and thoroughly written, also has a glossary. However, you know 80% of the book if you’ve watched his videos. Not suitable for kindle because of pictures.
Lovely book, not surprised. If you’ve watched his videos you know how thorough he is. It’s got all the information-species, harvesting and processing, roasting and other intricacies about the process from seed to cup.
He’s also put in a glossary of words related to coffee (bloom, crema, dry process etc.)
While most of the content is available on his YT channel, I would still recommend purchasing it since it has all the information in once place. It also has a bit more here and there.
I would not recommend it for kindle because of the pictures. Can’t appreciate coffee in BnW.

I was skeptical at first to order without knowing the condition of the book that will be delivered as the book cover is not a normal hard cover. But the product was in perfect condition and shape. The overall book has very good information with pictures. It is a perfect gift for a coffee connoisseur or for a coffee table book!
