Sadly, something is missing among the recipes in this promising little book. I have yet (after a few tries and cleanups) to get an Informix Developer Edition instance running on my 2015 MacBook Pro. (Thankfully Java 8 was already there and I have access to EE Informix on Linux, Windows, and AIX to connect to). I mentioned the book during an Informix class I was in and learned others had similar luck. Going thru the book is a worthy exercise; I only hope that someone else somewhere might have better luck getting Informix 12.x to actually run on Mac.
