Old batch, barely any flavour. Not worth the price and my time. After trying Vienna Roast from Blue Tokai this felt like an insut, will not buy anything again from this brand since they have zero respect for the customers, sending many months old beans. Aroma stays only upto 1 month max, after that even the best brand beans loose any magic.

So this is one of the pricier Monsooned Malabar I’ve tried in recent times. I live in North India so I’m just thankful that there is a roaster near me who can deliver fresh roasted beans to me quickly. I got my shipment very quickly. The roast date was clearly mentioned on the pack and it came with a one way CO2 escape valve. All excellent stuff in these departments.
Coming to the real stuff, ie how does it taste – whenever I try out a new coffee brand, I always make the first cup using my trusty pour over kit. It tells me a lot about the freshness and flavour, aroma, body of the coffee.
As you can see in the pic above, the beans are large and even sized and have received a very consistent roast. Decent bubbling up in the blooming process told me that the batch was freshly roasted. So all good up to this point.
Pour over did bring out all the notes as specified in the description, however due to the level of roast these beans have received, it does bring out a hint of burnt carbon like flavours. Some people like their coffee that way, but I’m not a big fan of those notes. No hints of acidity whatsoever, just a clean clear cup of coffee. That said, I would give this a miss for pour over style or similar percolated variants due to that slight burnt taste while having it black.
When it comes to espresso, it’s a totally different story. The amount of crema this produces is phenomenal (see a one minute later pic above). These beans just shine through in espresso and all milk based variations of it. Simply delicious. The level of roast no doubt helps here.
It’s equally tasty as the espresso when prepared through a moka pot with milk added for taste.
To sum up, this is one of the best Monsooned Malabar variant, If not the best, out there in Indian market.
I would probably try more of their offerings once I’m done with this pack.
To seller : Thank you for including single cup samples of your other variants. I love freebies as much as anyone! Best of luck and success in sustaining your quality and business. 👍

there was no strong smell coming from the coffee beans upon opening so I was a bit fearful that the coffee had lost its flavour for lack of freshness but apparently not. or at least not too much.
the espresso experience was good with a round, earthy flavour and no acidity at all, which was my number one concern.
all in all, considering I’ve ordered fresh coffee from Amazon, I’m pretty satisfied. go for it.

Somehow got attracted to this coffee beans and ordered it. The beans are perfectly roasted. The taste is definitely pleasure oriented and guaranteed satisfaction. Made moka filter and ibriki / cezve coffee. Awesome.

The coffee beans are a hit and miss in terms of Roasting Flavor missed the depth. Starbucks Veranda/India Estates Blend or Lavazza Qualita ORO or Coffee Day Mysore Royale are better in terms of roasting. Coffee beans were fresh but the roasting profile can be made better to bring the flavor of Monsooned Malabar. I have previously tried the Waitrose Monsooned Malabar Grounds and difference is roasting profile.
All said in the current variant of roasting its best to have it with Cinnamon or Almond Cake and/or add milk to enhance the coffee profile. Do not have it Black (unsweetened) as there is no after taste.

It’s not dark roasted coffee as requested. Seems to be medium roasted coffee.
It was expecting a dark shiny coffee beans, that produces Minimum acidity when consumed. But it not up to the mark. I always used Blue tokai Coffee that never failed. Wasted hard earned money and time. NOT RECOMMENDED to dark coffee lovers.

Taste is good. But I don’t know roasting date so I can’t manage it. I wish printed about details of coffee. Thanks.
