First off, I really thought this was going to be larger. It holds 1 and 1/4 cup water. The box is printed in Chinese with no instructions insert and no English. I went back to the Amazon page just to confirm that I can put this on the stove top. It described it as thick glass. It’s not, It’s thin. However, it survived on the stove top. I might keep it to use it as a small creamer or dressing vessel.

The item is made of thick tempered glass. The size of of the item is comparable to an average mug holding liquid wise . I do see the description has changed since I ordered it. As far as brewing tea there may be other alternatives for loose leaf tea brewing in larger quantities aside from this item. I could see this item holding milk for tea/ coffee or gravy during a meal. Good item that has a variety of uses but not for large batches of tea, single serving only based on liquid amount held.
